2006 Eaglepoint Ranch Sangiovese Mendocino County - magnum
How do I even describe this wine? It screams Sangiovese from a distant Italian village and takes no prisoners. It has dried violets, red licorice, tar, and wild cherries jumping in your nose. The palate is so smooth and soft, but also rich and fullbodied. It was quite a change from the Napa fruit and a winner the first year out of the gate.

If you followed the story (which I promise I did not make up), you might know just how I came to find this vineyard on the mountaintop.
